EASTCOTT Community Organisation is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation to hold an eco-friendly event.

The charity comprises of volunteers who took over management of Savernake Street Social Hall in May 2014.

Their aim is to increase opportunities for residents through running a variety of events, including large scale community celebrations, afternoon teas, Halloween parties, discos and craft events.

The group also supports the Savernake Street Social Hall Free Shop to support recycling and re-using.

Anna Smart, one of the trustees, said: “This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund means that we can now hold the Old Town eco-fest – a day-long celebration of all things eco-friendly.

“People will be able to give and take unused items at our freeshop, swap plants and seeds, get information and inspiration from a range groups and learn new skills in a number of hands-on workshops.

“The event will raise funds and gather support for the new community garden.”

Galaxy Hot Chocolate is looking to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support warm-hearted people and projects.

The fund is open for entries until February 23, and will distribute five £300 awards to deserving recipients every week. Applications to the fund can be made at galaxyhotchocolate.com.
