Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery during which the victim suffered facial injuries.
The incident happened at about 2am on Sunday, February 8, in Victoria Road, Swindon, when a 35-year-old man from the town was threatened and assaulted in what is believed to have be an unprovoked attack.
The man who was hurt and two other men were walking in the area when the attack happened.
A 28-year-old male from Malmesbury was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
