A MAN who sexually assaulted a woman in Purton will have to register as a sex offender for ten years.
Daniel Smith was spared an immediate jail term after being convicted of the offence in the village on February 19, 2013.
But the 35-year-old will still have to register as a sex offender after a judge at Swindon Crown Court imposed a suspended sentence.
Smith, of Witney, Oxfordshire, pleaded not guilty to the charge but was convicted by a jury following a week long trial in July.
Judge Tim Mousley QC imposed a two-year jail term, suspended for two years, triggering the ten-year registration period.
