AWARD-WINNING hairdresser Joshua Goldsworthy has taken his glittering career to another level with a stint styling the world’s most glamorous supermodels at Paris Fashion Week.

Swindon-born Joshua comes from a strong family history of hairdressing, having grown up around his father Steven’s salon in the town.

Even though he is only 25, he is already a rising star of the industry – winning national awards, working with some of the world’s top fashion photographers and styling the contestants of Britain’s Next Top Model among other hit TV shows.

As if all that wasn’t enough, he has just returned from his fifth year working behind the scenes at the London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks.

Joshua said: “I got involved with doing the fashion weeks through people I’d worked with before.

“I’m at around 50 shows now over the last five years in both men’s and women’s fashion.

“A lot of that has been with Gary Gill who I’ve been working with for three years now but I also got the chance to work under Guido Palau which was fantastic.”

Among the shows Joshua worked on were those from Dior and Balenciaga, and with upwards of fifty models for each show the week was non-stop.

Of the 44 models taking part in just one show for example, 39 needed their hair cutting and colouring which took two full days.

Joshua added: “We get given a brief and then often it slowly morphs at time goes on.

“Each show has a different look and the styles are very unique so it’s a long process.

“One show I worked on this time was using all street cast girls, mostly spotted on Instagram, so that was interesting.

“I love the big shows, they’re my favourite thing to do – especially at fashion week when everybody there is really at the top of their game.

“It does become like a real collaboration, we bounce ideas off each other and share suggestions, it becomes a great creative atmosphere.”

The year ahead looks equally as exciting for Joshua as he splits his time between working at the Goldsworthy’s salon in Swindon and pursuing more personal projects.

This week he has been styling the finalists of Britain’s Next Top Model and is looking forward to a hairdressing show in Oxford next month.

He will be entering more national hairdressing awards as he looks to cement his reputation as one of the top in the profession in Britain.

As much as he is enjoying his personal success, Joshua is keen to share the experience he has gained with his staff and others looking to develop in hairdressing.

He said: “At the salon we’ve always looked to give staff the chance to develop and open their own salons if that’s something they want to do.

“I don’t see the point in me getting all these opportunities and learning so much and then not sharing it with anyone else.”
