SOLICITORS drawing up wills for members of the public have helped raise more than £7,500 for Prospect Hospice.

The private client team at Swindon and Marlborough-based law firm Withy King raised the amount for the hospice during its most recent ‘Make A Will Month’ by waiving its usual fees in exchange for a charitable donation.

Withy King helped to draft or update more than 30 Wills in support of Prospect Hospice’s ‘Make A Will Month’ - the fourth year the firm has supported the campaign.

Withy King’s clients have raised over £24,000 for the hospice over the four years that the firm has been involved.

Mandy Casavant, a wills and estate planning specialist at Withy King and a trustee of Prospect Hospice, said: “This annual campaign is an excellent way of raising awareness of the importance of wills while raising money for an invaluable local charity.

“We are very pleased to play our part in supporting Prospect in delivering dedicated end-of-life care and family support services locally and proud that our clients contributed over half of the overall amount, just shy of £14,000, raised by the initiative this year.”

“Make a Will Month has been very valuable to us since we first introduced it, and provides a great opportunity for people to focus on the things that are likely to matter most to them after they die,” explained Melanie Dicker from Prospect Hospice’s fundraising team. “We are very appreciative of the generous support given to us by the solicitors who take part in our Make a Will Month.”
