STAFF at Royal Mail's Dorcan sorting office went on strike today in support of a suspended union officer.
More than 300 Royal Mail staff across Swindon and Wiltshire are thought to have taken action, the strike centring around the suspension of the area representative.
It is understood that the Communication Workers' Union members walked out of the Dorcan office at 6am and are picketing, as are members at Chippenham.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are fully committed to resolving our colleagues' concerns in co-operation with the Communication Workers' Union (CWU).
"We will do all we can to minimise any disruption and to deliver and collect mail as normal.”
