PEOPLE heading to the Old Town Festival can find out more at a new dedicated office in Wood Street.

Organisers are on hand to answer questions in the run-up to the festival which lasts from this Saturday to July 1.

Festival chairman Brian Mattock said: "This year we have concentrated on putting all our resources into the two weekends and we've packed more entertainment into those four days than we have before."

The festival events are mostly free of charge and will kick off with a procession leaving Lloyds TSB car park at 12.15pm on Saturday.

A family concert is planned afterwards in the Town Gardens Bowl with a fun fair and bouncy castle.

A major highlight is the seven-course medieval banquet on June 29. Tickets for it cost £16.

"The banquet has been requested by popular demand as more than 170 people attended it last year and we got many phone calls looking for a repeat," said Mr Mattock.

He said the festival, which has been running for 15 years, has hit a high recently.

"We had more than 10,000 people last year and we'd like to see that increase," he said.

"The purpose of the festival is to provide great entertainment for people and promote business in Old Town."

The festival office is open on Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm at 10 Wood Street.

Mark Wightman, of estate agents Drewett Neate, has made the premises available for the festival.
