A youth theatre company is looking back to the future with its latest production, set in the Swindon Borough Council Chamber.

The drama, 2046, sees Swindon as the new capital of the UK. A dreadful flood has swept the country and London has been submerged. A group of young rebels, unhappy with the Government, set out to expose the wrong doings.

Around 26 young people from Prime Youth Theatre are taking part in the drama. Founder members Julia Dickinson and Ben Eccles who set up Sixth Sense Theatre Company, as it was called in the 1980s, were also called in to help.

Prime Youth Theatre today is open to young actors aged from five to 25 and also welcomes, writers, directors and technicians to its weekly workshops, run alongside master classes, performance projects and productions.

Members can be elected as Prime Ministers to help with workshops and become part of the management team as far as decision making and forward planning is concerned. The ethos of the company is to help society value young people through education accreditation, imagination and inspiration.

Taking the part of the Prime Minister of New Britain in the new drama is the actor and creator of TV's Sherlock, Mark Gattis.

It is a real coup for the Swindon company to have the support of actors such as Mark who will apear on film in the production at the council chamber as he is currently appearing in a play in London.

2046 runs from Thursday, October 27 to Saturday, October 29 at the Civic Offices for more details visit www.primetheatre.co.uk - Flicky Harrison
