A WARNING has been issued about fake emails claiming to be from the Crown Prosecution service, summonsing people to court.
The CPS said: "We are aware that a number of people have received emails which falsely claim to be from the Crown Prosecution Service, including a summons to appear as a witness at court.
"The CPS does not email witnesses to summon them to court.
"Anyone receiving such an email should delete it.”
Such emails can be reported to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or use the online fraud reporting tool at www.actionfraud.police.uk.
