SIX lucky ladies put on their posh frocks after winning our VIP magazine Royal Ascot competition.

Shellee Turner treated five of her friends to a day out at Ladies' Day, the most glamorous day of the Royal race meeting, after winning six tickets in the competition.

Shellee was joined by pals Amanda Howes, Laura Carter, Angie Turner, Lesley Campbell and Amanda Moore and the sextet were whisked off to horse racing's equivalent of the Olympics in a chauffeur-driven limousine.

Prior to the racing, they were handed a sumptuous food hamper, accompanied by a bottle of Veuve-Clicquot champagne, to get their day off to a perfect start.

Rain showers failed to dampen fashion spirits at Ladies' Day this year.

Shellee and her friends were among thousands of women who turned out in daring splashes of colour and huge millinery creations for the event.

According to fashion experts, canary yellow, fuchsia pink and pillarbox red were popular shades on the colour palette for the brave this year.

But it was 60s-inspired monochrome that came through the winning post in the fashion stakes. Chic black and white dresses were ideal for the conditions and oozed effortless elegance.

Splashes of cool metallics in hats and accessories also added a glamorous edge to outfits.
