BAKERS and tea drinkers are in for a Brighter Futures summertime treat this June as the annual tea party returns for another year.

Businesses, schools, community groups and sweet-toothed individuals are being encouraged to host a summer tea party on Friday, June 30, in aid of the radiotherapy appeal.

People can bake cookies and cakes (or use their imaginations to give Great British Bake Off contestants a run for their money) and ask friends and colleagues to tuck in in exchange for a donation.

There will even be a luxury hamper prize for the summer tea party that raises the most amount of cash, as well as a whole host of runner-up prizes for the best pictures taken.

Chloe Thomas, Brighter Futures’ community and events fundraiser, is hoping that this year’s summer tea party will be bigger and better than ever.

She said: “It’s a great opportunity to bake and eat cakes, drink coffee, get together with friends and family and have a chat to raise cash for the radiotherapy appeal.

“We are hoping to do one big party on June 30, but if people can’t do it on that specific date then they can still request a pack and do it at a time more suitable to them.

“It’s also a really good opportunity for people who don’t want to run or sky dive or take part in other sporting activities but who still want to support the cause.

“Plus, if you manage to raise more than £1,000 your name will go into a prize draw for a luxury hamper.”

It’s the third year the team has run the event and it has always been popular.

“It has grown each year and we are really excited to see how it will be received this time,” said Chloe.

In a plea for support, Chloe said: “Give us a call and we can send you a pack with balloons, posters and a few other tea party-related goodies.”

So far £1,539,135 has been raised for Brighter Futures. The team is very grateful for every single donation and wishes to thank everyone for their support.
