Shakespeare Live have moved venue to perform probably the most popular of the Bard’s plays - A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
This will be the theatre company’s 29th open air show and this year it is performed in the sylvan setting of Cleeve House, Seend until Saturday, July 8 at 8pm, with a matinee on Saturday at 2pm.
There is a 366-seater tiered and covered stand from which to enjoy the romantic antics of fairies and humans.
Directed by Rod Moor-Bardell the story is based around the workman Bottom who is unwittingly transformed by mischievous Puck into a donkey, in order to woo the Queen of the Fairies, who is put under a spell of enchantment.
Founded in 1989 by a group of experienced amateur actors, Shakespeare Live is a theatre company which raises funds for charity by producing open air performances of Shakespeare plays. Since its foundation the company has raised more than £50,000.
There is a chance to picnic before every show, and to enjoy extra entertainment on the Saturday gala night. Tickets are £5 - £20 from www.shakespearelive.com, or 07780 938107.
