COMMONWEAL School hosts Fringe Cuts – the Swindon Fringe Drama Evening – tonight.
The three shows have been judged the best of the Swindon Fringe.
The Door is the theatre debut of writer/director Alex Secker, and won the Swindon Choice Award.
It tells the story of six strangers who awake to find themselves locked in a windowless room with no means of escape but a single door.
When their unseen captor gives them a choice between staying or venturing out into the unknown, tensions run high.
Another drama is Breaking Point, presented by the Madam Renards theatre company, which won the Best New Writing Award.
It is about two young women – strangers - who’ve each had a bad night. After a trip to A&E they share their respective secrets as they wait together for whatever will happen next.
The Best Stand Up Comedian Award went to Daft Pun, a show by Sony Award-winning comic Tony Cowards. Critics have hailed it as being filled with great gags, playful puns and witty wordplay. GQ Magazine has described him as: “The best joke writer around.”
Fringe Cuts starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 and can be booked online at ticketsource.co.uk/fringecuts Further information can be found at the Fringe Cuts Facebook page.
