SWINDON Star Wars fanatic Luke Skywalker has seen his ultimate dream come true - meeting the film idol Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy.

The happy meeting happened on Friday, at the Star Wars Celebration convention at London's Excel centre, and Luke, 39, says his life is now complete.

As recently as last year, Luke, the owner of Skywalkers costume hire, was quoted in the Advertiser as saying "If I met him I really could say - I have done it all".

And now he has. The father-of-three was buzzing all weekend after his meeting, which only happened when Hamill brushed security guards out of the way to get to "Luke Skywalker from London".

Luke who, contrary to popular belief, still has the surname Kaye, said: "The security guards wouldn't let me get to him, but Mark Hamill told them to get back and he came and gave me two minutes to talk to him.

"He actually wanted to speak to me, he said hey, Luke Skywalker from London' - he thinks I'm from London. He asked for my email and the photo is of us right up close.

"He signed the X-wing helmet that he used in the film, which I bought at an auction years ago. And he signed four autographs for me.

"Then the security whisked him away.

"It was absolutely amazing to meet the guy I've been wanting to meet for 30 years."

The only missing parts of Luke's enormous collection, "probably the second biggest in England", were Hamill and Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo.

And with pictures of Hamill now collected, Luke hopes to catch Ford during his forthcoming filming of the new Indiana Jones film.

With the 30th anniversary of the film coming up - its release date in the UK was December 27, 1977 - Star Wars fans are in a frenzy of celebrations.

The convention saw Hamill meet up with Darth Vadar actor Dave Prowse for just the third time since filming Return Of The Jedi, the third film of the original trilogy, in 1983.

Later this week Luke expects to sign a contract with Liverpool Museum for his entire Star Wars collection to go on show for five months.

He has also been working with the Clarks Outlet Village, in Street, providing film memorabilia for window displays.

"It's hectic," said Luke "20th Century Fox films are wanting to hire my Darth Vadar and Storm Troopers suits. It can't get bigger than that. And I've sold a Star Trooper to Robbie Williams."
