TWO floors of a house in Upper Stratton were gutted by a blaze that started in the cupboard under the stairs.
Two fire crews from Swindon were sent to tackle the fire in Merton Avenue just before 3pm on Sunday, but when they arrived they saw it had spread to other parts of the ground floor and upstairs and called for back-up.
Another two fire engines arrived and firefighters using eight breathing apparatus sets put it out.
The Red Cross fire victim support unit cared for the occupants.
