A 41-year-old woman from Swindon has admitted a child neglect charge.
The woman was irresponsible while in charge of a girl under the age of 16 on July 6, Swindon magistrates heard.
She also admitted breaching a suspended sentence order which was made on April 19 for the offences of drink-driving and being found drunk on a highway while in charge of a child.
Her suspended sentence order was not activated as it was decided that it would be unjust in the circumstances.
Magistrates heard she has been sober since early August, gave a negative breath test, and is working really well on the current order and real progress was being made.
She was ordered to pay £120 and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
An NSPCC spokesperson for South West England said: “Neglect is the most common form of child abuse and involves failing to provide for a child’s basic needs or failing to protect them from harm.
“Neglect can wreak havoc on a child’s development, emotional well-being, ability to form relationships, and mental health.
“It is everyone’s responsibility to keep children safe and we urge anyone worried that a child might be suffering cruelty or neglect to contact our round-the-clock helpline for advice.”
