POLICE were called to reports of an illegal hunt at Hannington this morning.

But when officers arrived, they could see no sign of a fox – with hounds following a “trail horse” and no illegal hunting activity witnessed by police.

No arrests have been made.

A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said that officers had been called out at around 11.45am.

She added: “No foxes were seen and the hounds were witnessed to be following a trail horse. Officers have spoken with the hunt secretary and further enquiries will be made with the hunt master.”

Hunting foxes with dogs was made illegal in the Hunting Act 2004.
