A DRIVER smashed her car into the side of a busy petrol station.
The 46-year-old’s Vauxhall Astra crashed into the cash machine at the Esso garage on Kingshill Road at around 1pm.
Claire Butcher, manager, said: “It was like a bomb went off. I think she went round the roundabout and came off. Nobody really saw.”
Astonishingly, the female driver clambered from her car before firefighters and police arrived. Wiltshire Police said she was being taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment.
The fuel pumps at the Esso garage were unaffected, Ms Butcher said. The garage remains open as normal. She added: “The cash machine looks a bit of a mess.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said a crew from Drove Road fire station were sent shortly after 1pm this afternoon to make the area safe.
Police have asked anyone who saw the crash to call 101.
