EXCITED young carers got the rare chance to pose with the Premier League trophy yesterday.
Swindon Town Football Club asked the Football Association to bring the cup into Even Swindon Primary School as a treat for the hard-working youngsters from across the town.
More than 45 football fans gasped and cheered when the trophy was brought in.
Naomi Sly, Even Swindon’s assistant headteacher, said: “It’s good to spread the word about the work young carers do, bring them together to recognise them for their efforts, and raise awareness for the support that’s available to them.”
Jayne Kean from Tregoze Primary School said of her pupils: “It was fabulous. They really enjoyed themselves.”
There are more than 900 registered young carers in Swindon and many more who are unregistered but still supported.
