One of Swindon’s major routes has been closed by a traffic collision this afternoon.

Croft Road has been shut by a collision described by a witness as “pretty nasty- looking”.

The collision took place at 11am and involved at least two cars with one, according to the witness, being left in the middle of the road, near the roundabout junction of Tismeads Crescent.

The two cars involved have been confirmed to be a blue Renault Clio and a silver Nissan Micra.

Traffic is being diverted around Pipers Way, motorists are being asked by the police to avoid the area.

Croft Road is one of Swindon’s major routes south from the town centre towards Wroughton.
