THE bodies of three servicemen killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan will be flown into RAF Lyneham today.
Private Aaron McClure, 19 of Ipswich, Private John Thrumble, 21 of Chelmsford, and Private Robert Foster, 19, of Harlow were killed on August 23 while patrolling in Helmand province.
The Hercules aircraft will be greeted on the runway before the coffins, each draped in a Union flag, are carried to three waiting hearses.
They will then be driven through Lyneham village and arrive in Wootton Bassett at about 6pm. This is later than the time originally scheduled.
After the sombre procession passes through High Street the cars will continue to Swindon where the bodies will be transferred into the custody of the Wiltshire coroner, David Masters pending the inquest.
The trio, who were serving with Seven Platoon Suffolk Company were in an area north-west of Kajaki when they were killed by US F15 aircraft.
The fighter aircraft were called in to help during an assault from Taliban fighters.
It is thought that a bomb deployed by one of the aircraft and intended for Taliban militia claimed the lives of the three soldiers and injured two others.
The three young servicemen were pronounced dead at the scene.
