BUS driver Amy Howells is tackling the challenge of a lifetime in aid of stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS.

Amy from Swindon is kicking off a series of mammoth walks that will total nearly 500km.

She will start in September where she will take part in a 50km route through the Chilterns.

The 33-year-old said: “So many people I know have had tragedy touch their lives, and SANDS offers vital support and comfort at their time of need.

“By walking these routes, I’m aiming to raise £2,500 to help the charity provide this invaluable support. These walks will each be continuous through the night.”

Over the course of the next 12 months, Amy will complete the 106km Isle of Wight Challenge, the 100km London to Brighton walk, a 100km walk around the Jurassic Coast and a 100km South Coast walk.

The bus company's general manager, Alex Chutter, said: “We’re tremendously proud of Amy - and I have no doubt she’ll achieve and exceed her target.

“We’ll be making a donation and helping raise awareness through our social media platforms. Our colleagues from other Go South Coast operators will also be doing all they can to ensure Amy has everything she needs during each of the walks.
