THE Labour MEP for Swindon is hosting a Brexit summit for local people to come together to hear live speakers about the getting the best deal for Swindon.

Clare Moody, the Labour MEP for the South West, has organised the summit on Friday to have an informative discussion on the complex and uncertain terms on which Britain, and Swindon, will leave the EU.

Starting at 10.30 am, speakers will include Patrick Keating, the European government affairs manage from Honda, Business West director of policy, Matt Griffith, and director of international research at Unite the Union, Simon Dubbins.

They will also be joined by a talk by Clare Moody herself and the shadow Treasury Minister Anneliese Dodds MP.

A live Q and A with the panel with members of the public able to put their questions about the looming deadline for Britain’s departure from the European Union in March 2019.

Clare Moody told the Adver: "Brexit is the biggest challenge facing Swindon and our country. It is vital that the UK gets a good Brexit deal. To do that we need a debate on the detail not soundbites. This isn’t a re-run of the referendum – that debate has ended.

"The Swindon Brexit Summit is about setting out clearly what a good Brexit — if there is one — would look like for for the area. We’ve brought together businesses, politicians, and trade unionists in order to facilitate a wide-ranging and open debate on Britain leaving the European Union."
