A STRATTON brewery is celebrating its 175th year with a beer festival.

It will be the first time Arkell's has run a festival at its Kingsdown brewery in five years.

The firm says the all-day event will give drinkers a chance to sample more than 40 different cask beers and foods ranging from pizza to bratwurst.

Alex Arkell, head brewer at Arkell's Brewery, said: We last hosted the beer festival in 2013 and it was a great success, so we’re thrilled to be bringing it back after a hiatus. We wanted to make our 175 years of brewing a special celebration and what’s better than celebrating with a beer festival for the local community with all profits going to amazing causes.

It’s a very special occasion for us at Arkell’s and we’re really happy we can share this year with our valued locals and loyal customers across the south west.”

All of the money raised from the event will go to the Prospect Hospice and the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

The Arkell's Beer Festival is on Saturday, September 15, 12pm to 8pm. Tickets are £5 per person and include a free branded glass, programme and half pint voucher to spend at the festival. For an extra £5, festival-goers will be able to tour the brewery buildings with Alex Arkell.
