MORE than 15 firefighters tackled a blaze in the former Milton Club.
Crews from Stratton, Swindon and Westlea fire stations were called to the small fire in the derelict clubhouse shortly before 4pm.
Curtis Street was closed briefly by police to allow the firefighters to put out the fire. Doorways in the Milton Road building have been torn down to ventilate the former club, which members voted to close in 2012.
Eyewitnesses said an ambulance had also been called to the scene, although it is not believed anyone was injured in the fire.
