The sheds, garages and cupboards of Swindon are holding enough leftover paint cans to paint the town.

New research from Dulux has revealed that 53 percent of residents have between four and 20 tins of part-used paint gathering dust.

One in three of these are half full, however one in four are unopened or almost full and across the UK there’s an estimated 50 million litres of paint left unused.

That leftover gloss or emulsion doesn’t have to waste away in the shed or garage - it can be recycled.

Leftover paint can then be put to positive use elsewhere in the local community to benefit individuals, families and charities in need at an affordable cost.

For the past quarter of a century, Dulux has been sponsoring Community RePaint schemes across the UK to give paint a new lease of life and transform the lives of over five million people.

Kathryn Ledson, from Dulux, said: “For people at home with tins of paint in the shed, it's time to pass it on, safe in the knowledge that as well as stopping it going to landfill, you’ll also be helping your community at the same time.”
