THE Cats Protection charity shop on Regent Circus will close its doors a week today after the owners of the building have decided to sell it on.

The charity, which raises money for local cats being cared for by foster owners in Swindon, has been told by the owners they will have to move out by Saturday October 20.

Sharon Conde, manager of the Regent Circus shop, told the Adver: "We're sad to be leaving and hope when we do find a new premises that our customers will continue to support us.

"All our customers are upset we're leaving as well, they say it's one of their favourite places to come because its always really tidy and clean and the staff are always friendly."

After being based at the shop on Regent Circus for six years the charity hopes it will be able to open a nearby store in the next few months.

Volunteer Sarah Bevan added: "The owner is selling it on so there's nothing we can do about it. Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters that have rallied round when we first started. We get a lot of support from the people in Swindon."

Cats Protection is the UK's largest feline charity and has been going for more than 90 years and rehoming 46,000 cats each year through a network of 250 branches and 36 centres.
