A FORMER bank could be returned to its original state of accommodation, at least in part, if plans are given the go ahead.
Developer Christopher Kane, who lives in Highworth, has applied for permission from Swindon Borough Council planners to transform the listed building at 7 High Street in the town, which used to house Lloyds Bank, into three flats.
He wants to use the top two floors of the three-story building for the apartments - leaving the ground floor to continue to be used for financial business purposes.
Mr Kane's application says: "The scheme does not propose to alter the exterior facades in any way, front or rear.
"Only internal alterations are proposed."
The plans show that the second floor of the building could be separated into two apartments both with two bedrooms - with the smaller one having an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge and a shower room with no bath.
The first floor would be divided between one flat, again with two bedrooms and no bath, but a shower room, and two existing offices.
The Grade 2 listed building dates from around 1832 and is an important example of 19th century architecture in Highworth Conservation area.
