A COMMUNITY art space in John Lewis will be showing the work of the Swindon Photographic Society this month.

The society, which has been going since 1898, has agreed to display its members' work with the store on the Mannington Roundabout for the public to buy.

The exhibition gives a change for members, both new and old, to show off their best images.

A percentage of the sales will also be donated to the Disabled Photographer's Society.

Daniel Thuysbaert, partner and regional project lead at John Lewis made said:

"I am delighted that John Lewis and Partners, Swindon at Mannington Retail Park is working with the Swindon Photographic Society to host an exhibition of photographs from their members. All pieces of work will be for sale with a percentage of proceeds being donated for the benefit of The Disabled Photographers' Society.

"It is particularly exciting to see pieces of photographic art produced by local talent on show in our shop.

"Many of the pieces are taken using cameras we sell, namely Canon, Nikon and Olympus brands and can really showcase what can be achieved with this technology. I hope the exhibition will inspire our customers to get snapping some of their own works of art.”

The exhibition at the John Lewis on the Mannington Retail Park will run until November 25.

The Swindon Photographic Society holds regular events, invites guest speakers, runs workshops for budding photographers, and holds its annual John Evans competition to celebrate it's members' best work.

It meets every week from mid May at the Western Community Centre in Rodbourne.
