A SERVICE to remember loved ones looked after by staff at Prospect Hospice heard moving performances at the annual Light Up a Life event.
The service, hosted by BBC Radio Wiltshire's Graham Seaman and chair of trustees Richard Hammond, brought together more than 500 people to hear readings and listen to performances from local groups to support families grieving for a loved one.
They included a version of the Coldplay song Fix you sang by the Ridgeway School Choir, and carols from the Albourne Band.
There was also a rendition of Christmas, The Way It's Meant To Be by Swindon legend Clarry Bean, whose late wife Christine was looked after at the hospice in December 2017.
Prospect Hospice’s deputy chief executive Richard Hammond said: “We would like to thank everyone who came to Light Up a Life and everyone who contributed to the appeal that we run ahead of the service throughout the autumn.
An appeal leading up to the event in the autumn also managed to thousands for the hospice.
"The appeal raised more than £27,000 towards the care that we provide for patients and their families, and we are very appreciative for local people’s generosity at this time of year," added Richard.
“At what we know is always a very poignant time of year, it was our privilege to welcome you, and we hope you found the service to be comforting and perhaps even uplifting.”
