Nearly £1million will be spent by GLL, the company which runs leisure and sports centres in Swindon, on measures to save energy.

The social enterprise which manages seven locations in the town on behalf of the borough council under its trading name Better told Labour councillor Jane Milner-Barry that it was to allocate £900,000 in the coming year on 'spend to save energy'.

Coun Milner Barry had asked what use had been made of £2m allocated for improvements in leisure centres.

GLL said it had made three major investments so far: the company has spent £234,000 on Haydon Gym in Thames Avenue, £1.2m on Link gym and £900 on the trampoline park it runs at the Link centre.
