THE Swindon Philosophical Society will host its first talk of 2019 on Friday.

David Archer will speak at the Friends Meeting House in Eastcott Hill at 7.40pm about 'Global Tax Justice'.

Mr Archer is the head of civic participation, tax justice, and public services at the charity ActionAid, a co-founder of the Global Campaign for Education, and chair of the Right to Education Initiative

The talk is expected to last an hour, with an hour-long discussion following its conclusion.

The society's spring programme includes a variety of weekly talks on data, economics, morality, Britain's future in the world, mental health, military philosophy and the United Nations.

Anyone can come along to the talks - it costs £2 per person to enter to help cover costs, though students and go in for free.

The society formed in 1963 and enjoys thought-provoking subjects about big ideas and weighty issues.
