More than 1,000 people have signed an online petition to prevent the demolition of a Victorian schoolbuilding in Swindon.
Clifton Street School, at the corner of Radnor Street is derelict. It's owner, Sukhvir Mander had started to knock it down last year when he was prevented from going further by the borough council.
Mr Mander, who runs a development business in Slough has now lodged a formal application for planning permission to knock down the building - which dates back to 1884 and build 10 flats on the site.
A petition started on the website change.org by Ben Blakey has now reached 1004 signatures.
Ben said: "Developers have run roughshod over Swindon's heritage for many years.
"We have lost many buildings of importance to the greed of developers, who often do not consider the heritage aspect or the sentimental attachment to our few remaining historical buildings, or the architectural importance of them.
