OFFICERS have launched an investigation into a fight outside a Swindon town centre bar.

Footage of the fight circulating on social media appeared to show one member of door staff throwing a reveller to the floor and stamping on his back. Other clubbers are shown throwing punches at bouncers.

Wiltshire Police confirmed the fight had been reported to officers.

A spokeswoman said: “We are currently carrying out an investigation into the incident and would urge people not to share video footage of the incident on social media as this is not helpful to our enquiries.

“Anyone who does have information on the incident, or footage recorded on phones should call 101.”

Footage of the fight emerged on social media on Saturday morning. A Facebook video showing clubbers clashing with bouncers has been viewed more than 50,000 times.

In the comments under the video, some have criticised the bouncers’ actions with one woman labelling is absolutely disgusting. However, another responded: “Sometimes offence is a form of self-defence. The amount of people I’ve had spit on me and attack me over the years, I’ve had to fight with so many.”

One man, who was out celebrating his 19th birthday on Friday night, said a bouncer had acted aggressively towards him as he left the bar at around 3.30am: “One started getting up in my face, shoving me, saying ‘What are you going to do about it?'"

A Boston Brothers spokesman said: "We take incidents of this nature very seriously and we have since launched an internal investigation. The safety of our customers is our primary concern, we will be liaising closely with our security provider and taking action as is appropriate in the circumstances.”
