Nearly 1,000 young people have been working with Swindon Borough Council on its Youth Council, Thought Tank and outreach work.

The majority of those young people took part in sessions with the council as part of their school day, councillors on the children's health care and education scrutiny committee will hear

They took part in the Pupils' Voice Survey, competed by 847 pupils mainly from three schools, Dorcan Academy, Lawn Manor and Kingsdown School.

Asked about what would help them improve their grades especially in English and maths, the year seven to 10 pupils said they wanted: weekly feedback from teachers and suggestions on how to improve, encouragement and positive comments, better resources and more encouragement to challenge themselves.

More interactive and fun lessons were also important.

The survey may be re-issued to other schools to encourage them to take part as well at the start of term.
