A FIRST aid teacher will run a special course to provide the Olive Tree Cafe at Twigs with a defibrillator.
Jo Coulson, who has been teaching since 1994 and a first aid trainer since 2009, said: “I just wanted to give them a boost in their fund raising by offering a course and all proceeds to go towards it.”
She has been working with the mental health charity for the past three years to train staff and volunteers in lifesaving techniques. But the lack of a defibrillator within reach became an issue.
“Over recent years, it became compulsory to train staff on how to use a defibrillator,” she explained. “At the end of the day, it may be me that needs the machine.”
The course is planned for March 1 and will be held at the Village Inn.To book a place email jocoulson.trainingservices@hotmail.co.uk
In the meantime Twigs is holding a series of open days starting on February 10 between 11am and 3pm, when visitors will have a chance to see some of the 10,000 snowdrops planted two years ago.
