A LITTLE drizzle didn't stop wassailers having a great time in Old Town over the weekend.

The Secret Garden in Queens Park hosted a morning ceremony to wake Old Man Apple from his slumber with lots of music, songs and cider.

Wassail King Ozzie brought the cider while Wassail Queen Elsie offered heart-shaped toasts to the abundant bird life that visit the park.

Folk singer Chantelle Smith led the wassail with the Bang to Rites Drummers, followed by wassailers in flower crowns donated by Wendy House Flowers.

A spokesman for the Secret Garden said: "Thanks for coming and we love that, for some of you, our wassail has become part of your own family traditions.

"Now, here’s to an abundant apple harvest this autumn!"

Rachael Oldridge was one of the many revellers who attended and enjoyed the event. She said: "We had such a lovely morning. Thank you so much to the Secret Garden. It was our very first Wassail - just fabulous."
