THE Duchess of Cornwall is set to meet children and their foster carers when she visits Swindon tomorrow for a story telling session.

In her role as Patron of the National Literacy Trust she is heading to the Lyndhurst Centre to see children who are in care and the people looking after them.

She is also dropping in at North Swindon Library to learn about the trust's Swindon hub and meet youngsters who are involved in the Lost Words project, which is based around a book by Robert Macfarlane.

The duchess has been the trust's patron for the past eight years and as well as visiting its projects around the country, she has hosted receptions at Clarence House in London in honour of people who have made valuable contributions to literacy standards in the UK.

The trust is known locally as Swindon Stories and runs programmes to improve reading skills and encourage the habit in children.

It is backed by Swindon Borough Council and WH Smith. For more about the trust visit literacytrust.org.uk
