BUSES were thrown into chaos by the snow in Swindon yesterday.
A bus which struggled to get up Victoria Road got stuck and managed to block the main arterial route for the majority of the morning, forcing other buses to be diverted down Marlborough Road.
Both Swindon bus companies, Stagecoach West and Thamesdown Buses, were forced to suspend the running of a number of services on routes across Swindon and most routes into rural areas.
One passenger paid tribute to the drivers who braved the icy roads to finish their routes.
Jamie Lee Brewer wrote: "A Big thank to Swindon bus company and Stagecoach for today's bus service in this weather [and] the snow. Hard job to drive it but your drivers got us home safe...Thank you again give your driver a good tap on the back for their amazing job today."
As conditions worsened both firms withdrew all services by 8pm last night.
A spokesperson wrote: "We respectfully advise our customers to plan accordingly. Thank you for you patience today."
