PLANS for an equestrian centre at Wharf Farm near Cricklade have been lodged.
The owners Chris and Mackenzie Bond want to re-locate their business from a rented site at Liddington to the site where they want to build a new barn, alter the tractor shed and put up a horsewalker along with a manege. Their plans involve the demolition of a disused piggery and the construction of 18 looseboxes in the existing open-fronted barn.
Agents Pro Vision say that although the property is in a flood zone, the development on the site is minimal and the risk of flooding will not materially increase.
They also point out the Cricklade neighbourhood plan supports the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises where they don’t have an unacceptable impact on a residential area.
“It will reintroduce and active business use which can make a positive contribution to the rural economy,” they add in their planning statement to Wiltshire Council.
The application can be seen on the authority's website.
