The man who exerts political control and decision-making over Wiltshire Police will be at South Swindon Parish Council's full meeting next week.

Angus Macpherson, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Swindon and the wider county is to be at the meeting to hear first hand about local concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour.

On the two days after that he will be attending meetings in Melksham and Warminster for the same reasons.

The PCC's office is proposing an increase in the Band D precept for the police force of £24 over the year.

That would take the annual police precept from £182.27 to £206.54, the first time it has ever gone over £200.

Mr Macpherson says he would use the money to hire more than 40 more officers and and 2 dedicated cyber-crime staff.

The full council meeting follows meetings this week of two of the parish council's committees, planning - where it can consider applications for development in its area and make its recommendations to Swindon Borough Council, which will make the final decision - and the leisure and amenities committee.

The meeting starts at 6.30pm in the lounge of the Broad Green Community Centre in Salisbury Street.
