The former Lloyds Bank building in Highworth, will become flats.

Developer Christopher Kane, who lives in the town, has been given permission by planning officers at Swindon Borough Council to convert the building at 7 High Street into three flats.

The exterior of the Garde II listed building, which dates back to 1832 will not be altered in the work, apart from the repair and repainting of damaged sash windows.

The ground floor of the three storey building will still be used for business, with an office space and a commercial area- possibly for a shop or retail financial service.

Two offices will remain on the first floor of the building, but there will also be a flat constructed on that floor with two bedrooms, one a small room leading directly off the apartment's living room.

On the top floor a couple two-bed flats will be constructed.

Mr Kane has three years in which to begin work on the scheme or permission will expire.
