A GROUP of five men repeatedly punched another man in a failed attempt to steal his wallet and phone.

The 30-year-old victim walked from the town centre at around 6.40pm on Friday March 8 when the group approached him in Emlyn Square. The men demanded that he hand over his wallet and phone.

When he refused, they attacked him. The victim sustained minor injuries and the group of five left without his personal items. Police are investigating the incident.

PC Corrina Wiltshire said: “The group of men were threatening towards the man during the incident, which happened not far from The Glue Pot. We believe there was a witness to this incident and we would be really keen to speak to them as they may be able to help us identify those involved. Fortunately, the victim wasn’t seriously injured but he was left shaken up by what happened.”
