WILTSHIRE's most prolific paedophile will have his sentence reviewed over fears his punishment was too lenient.
Peter Daniels, aged 70, who admitted 78 offences including rape and the sexual abuse of more than 20 victims, was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court last month.
He received six life sentences for more than 100 crimes against children as young as two between 2008 and 2017.
Wiltshire Police has now confirmed the case will be referred to the Court of Appeal, and will be heard at The Royal Courts of Justice on April 17.
The decision follows concerns raised about the leniency of the jail term after judge Richard Parkes told Daniels he could appeal to a parole board in just nine years' time.
The police and crime commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon Angus Macpherson wrote to the solicitor general Robert Buckland MP to seek a review which has now been granted.
The case is among Wiltshire's most prolific incidents of child sexual abuse, and involved more than 25 specialist officers from across the county.
