GREEN fingered gardeners, bakers and jam makers young and old are invited to take part in the Wroughton and District Gardener's Society Spring Show.

Exhibitors are now wanted for the show, organised every year by the Wroughton society, which has been going for more than seventy years.

Organiser Jess Bailey said: “Our show offers the chance to showcase your garden, baking, winemaking, crafting, floristry and photographic skills.

"Our youngest winner at our last show was under five years old and our oldest 97!”

"As well as all vegetable, pot plant and flower classes there are popular children’s classes for Easter bonnet decorating and making a garden in a small seed tray.

"The photography section of the show grows each year, as has the baking and jam making classes with the advent of baking related TV shows and this year there are new novice classes for first timers.

"The club is always keen to encourage newcomers to enter the show and has a number of novice or have-a-go classes that include a single tulip or daffodil in a container and a class called "something interesting that I have dug up in my garden"."

The society will also be inviting Nick Wray, curator from the University of Bristol Botanical Gardens, who will give a talk on March 18.

Visitors can attend the show from 2pm on Saturday April 13 at the Ellendune Community centre, in Wroughton.

Entry forms and the schedule for the day, containing a full list of all classes including horticultural, Floristry, Cooking, children and novice classes and photography, is at www.wroughtongardenerssociety.co.uk
