STORM Gareth claimed its latest victim this afternoon – an air vent in Park North.
High winds threatened to blow off roof venting on a property in Marlowe Avenue.
An appliance from Swindon fire station was called to the road at around 2.45pm on Wednesday, together with the station’s aerial unit.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews used the aerial ladder to remove the vent.
The Met Office is expecting the storm to ease later this evening, with forecasters predicting a brief spell of drier weather.
However, more rain and wind is likely to arrive from the west into the early hours. “Gales are likely and the rain will be often heavy, especially over higher ground,” the Met Office said.
