A MENTAL health charity has been handed £3,253 to create a pop-up music recording studio.
Ipsum, formerly known as SWADS, offers mental health and wellbeing support for people of all ages.
Increasingly, the Milton Road charity supports those under-18. As part of support programmes for younger age groups, Ipsum gives people the chance to express themselves creatively – including recording music using the charity’s pop-up studio.
Charity director Julie Mattinson had applied to South Swindon Parish Council for £3,253 to rip out old kitchen units in a basement room to create a new recording studio area. She said: “Due to the success of our therapeutic digital audio workshop we need a separate room for this intervention. This allows us to expand our work with under-18s."
The recording area could also be rented out to bands, creating a small income for Ipsum.
