A BRAND-NEW jazz festival is set to launch this weekend.

It will offer a variety of live music at Christ Church and Community Centre in Old Town on Saturday from noon to 11pm.

Artists taking part include award-winning guitarist Nigel Price, the band Ezra Old Souls, songwriter Alex Taylor, Denny Ilett’s All Stars Play Sinatra and many more.

Organiser Evie Em Jay said: “I am so pleased and blessed by the great response to this first Swindon Jazz and Soul Festival. We can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

Jazz players will be performing in Christ Church.

Anyone interested in soul music will be invited to go to community centre.

Evie has been organising jazz events for more than 10 years. She wanted to share her passion and bring something different to the community.

For its first year, the festival has been backed by numerous sponsors including Crescent record studios, the Royal Oak in Old Town, Straight 2 You Carpets and Hills Waste Solutions.

Advance online tickets are only available until today, but people can visit the Christ Church Office. Tickets cost £10 each and under 16s have free entry.

Tickets are sold in the form of wristbands, to avoid queuing at the door.
