THAMES Water engineers hope to fix a burst water pipe by Friday.
Engineers have been working at the site between East Wichel and the Old Town railway path for the past week. The site is near the East Wichel play area.
The water board said no homes in nearby development East Wichel have been hit by the leak.
A spokesman said: “We’re currently working to fix a burst on a 12-inch diameter water pipe. We aim to finish on Friday and no properties have been impacted.”
Residents reported the incident to Thames Water last week, with a video apparently showing water bubbling above long grasses in the field posted to an East Wichel community Facebook page.
The water board has previously experienced leaks in the Wichelstowe area. Last year, homes in SN1 and SN3 areas were left without water for much of a day in February 2018.
