FIREFIGHTERS briefly evacuated the area near a Wroughton park while investigating a possible chlorine leak.
Fire engines from Swindon and Westlea fire station raced to Whittingham Drive in Alexandra Park with a specialist unit from Stroud after a chlorine alarm went off in the plant room of an address on the road.
A spokeswoman for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 3.07pm to a potential chlorine leak in a plant room. Air monitoring equipment was used to investigate whether there is an issue with chlorine or the alarm itself.
"Two BA (Breathing Apparatus) wearers in gas tight suits investigated the premises with one hose reel jet. Air monitoring equipment was also used to check the area. No readings were detected and the alarm was reset with no further activations."
Firefighters left the area by 5.30pm and residents returned to their homes.
